Studiorum 2016: Choral Conducting Level 1

Choral Conducting Level 1

19 March -30 April 2016

Chong Wai Lun (Course Trainer) and Albert Tay (Course Advisor) led this basic conducting course for music teachers in schools and beginning professional conductors needing to conduct their school, church or community ensembles.
Through the use of choral music, participants polished basic conducting gestures, learnt the art of score preparation and how to employ good music pedagogy in the training of one’s ensemble. Apart from lecture-workshop style where conductors practice in a safe environment with fellow classmates, participants got hands-on opportunities to observe, rehearse and conduct Schola Cantorum Singapore’s Chamber Choir which culminated in a final showcase on 30 April 2016. 15 hours of contact time comfortably spread over several weeks also allowed participants to consolidate and apply learnt skills with your own ensembles.
