SCS at the Singapore Writers Festival

Rhapsody in Verse is a marquee event of the Singapore Writers Festival 2018, also celebrating local Chinese newspaper Lianhe Zaobao’s 95th anniversary, bringing together the works of 16 Singaporean Chinese poets across different generations who are then put to new and original music by six young composers.

SCS will be performing 4 choral works by Chen Zhangyi, Liong Kit Yeng, Phang Kok Jun, and Wang Chenwei.

In line with SCS’ mission of providing a platform for music lovers to explore new artistic boundaries via creative collaborations, the SCS Festival Chorus was organised through an open call for new singers to join in the concert alongside the SCS Chamber Choir.

SCS is also honoured to be working with the Young Artist Award recipient Mr Lim Chin Huat, a prolific cross-disciplinary artist, as staging director for the concert, which is slated to showcase the beauty of lyricism in Chinese through the various works performed that evening.
